Asia’s premiere Gin festival returns !

Premium beverage maker East Imperial celebrates all things gin with their fourth annual East Imperial Gin Jubilee. Asia’s premier gin festival has hosted three successful jubilees in Singapore since 2013, and has expanded this year to include regional jubilees in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Phnom Penh, Bangkok and Singapore. This celebration of all things gin brings together some of the world’s finest gins, the region’s best bars and bartenders, and is attended by thousands of gin novices and aficionados alike. The aim of East Imperial Gin Jubilee is to bring people together across a range of different venues so they can sample creative variations of the classic Gin & Tonic and to explore gin culture. Since launching, East Imperial is slowly redefining what a traditional Gin & Tonic is, and the Gin Jubilee is the means to showcase this exciting evolution.

East Imperial is working with Singapore’s thriving local bar scene and collaborating with leading craft spirits distributor Proof & Company to present the Singapore Jubilee over seven days from November 20, 2016 to November 26, 2016 across the city. The festival will encompass a city-wide “Best Gin & Tonic” competition for 36 local bars, and kicks off with a Sunday Brunch at Bob’s Bar in Capella Singapore. Expect a live band, tasty libations and Hendrick’s signature bathtub. Gin aficionados and impassioned imbibers will be spoiled for choices with a series of Masterclasses around town, and educational Salon Sessions at The Proof Flat, where both trade guests and consumers will hear from expert bartenders, brands and distillers. Explore the history of Gin & Tonics, learn how to make your own bitters, hear from distillers and best of all, taste over 36 versions of the drink by the city’s best bartenders.

The now legendary Gin Lane closing street party will showcase a series of pop up bars and gin brands at HongKong Street. The Gin Lane party is free for all to attend. Guests can take the opportunity to try out some of the competing bars’ Gin & Tonic creations. At the Gin Lane party, the “Best Ginstagram” winner will also be announced by East Imperial founders Kevin Law-Smith and Tony Burt. “We are very excited to host the Singapore Gin Jubilee again this year, and see the diverse range of events on offer. We have incredible G&T interpretations mixed by some of the best bartenders in Singapore, using East Imperial tonics and a variety of gins, and I’m looking forward to seeing consumers enjoy these cocktails,” said Zdenek Kastanek of Proof & Company, the local event organiser for the Singapore and Hong Kong jubilees.

Overall in the 2016 jubilee, more than 80 top bars from the region have been competing by creating unique Gin & Tonic renditions. Singapore has the most number of bars competing with 36 participants. Each bar has paired one of four East Imperial tonic waters with a partner gin brand, the rest of the recipe is then up to the individual bartender, who will have free rein to showcase their creativity. The culmination of East Imperial Gin Jubilee sees the crowning of one bar and one bartender with the Silver Tankard for each participating city’s “Best Gin & Tonic”. The “Best Gin & Tonic” winning bartenders from Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Phnom Penh will travel to Singapore to compete for the ultimate crown of “Asia’s Best Gin & Tonic” at the jubilee grand finale.

To vote for a favourite Gin & Tonic in the jubilee, consumers must follow East Imperial on Instagram, post a picture of their favourite bar’s Gin & Tonic and tag East Imperial. Be sure to add the bar’s name to the post and use the official hashtag: #GinJubilee2016. The “Best Ginstagram” post of Singapore jubilee will be selected by the jubilee panel, and the winner will receive a twoday trip to Bangkok in 2017 to take part in the Bangkok Gin Jubilee.

With a wide range of gins participating, consumers will recognise internationally renowned names such as, Bombay Sapphire, Hendrick’s, Dodd’s and there will also be crowd-favourite boutique brands, such as Citadelle, Death’s Door, Sipsmith, St. George, Fords Gin, Four Pillars, Monkey 47 and The Botanist.

Unique to the Singapore jubilee, Brooklyn, Bluecoat, Santamania, NB Gin, Ransom Old Tom, G’Vine and Žufánek are special gin partners selected to ensure people will discover new variations of gins, and new ways to imbibe them. Brooklyn Gin is made in small batches using hand-cracked juniper berries & fresh citrus peels to make a superb distilled gin with floral & citrus notes. NB Gin results from an exacting and meticulous London Dry Gin Process. All the flavours of the gin come from the essential oils released from the perfect 8 botanicals used through the distillation process.

Santamania is the first signature distillery to open in Madrid in decades, and its opening meant the Madrid Region was able to recover an old Spanish craft that was no longer practiced. Ransom Old Tom is an award-winning, historically accurate revival of mid-1800s Gin, the spirit for mixing classic pre-prohibition cocktails. The world’s first gin handcrafted from an exceptional grape spirit and the rare vine flower, G’Vine is a celebration of creativity and craft with an exceptionally smooth and silky taste. Bluecoat is a handcrafted American Dry Gin, small batch distilled in a copper pot using only organic botanicals resulting in a smooth and delicate artisanal spirit.
