DFS Group, the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, is inviting visitors to sample the very best of Singapore’s famous bar scene. To celebrate the first anniversary of the iconic DFS Wines and Spirits Duplex at Terminal 3, Changi Airport and DFS will be hosting a Cocktail Festival over six weeks. The festival will encompass collaborations with guest bartenders from leading bars in Singapore, special master classes and signature cocktail creations. Since its opening last May, the DFS Wines and Spirits Duplex has become a must-visit destination for travelers at Changi Airport. Designed by award-winning interior designer Masamichi Katayama, it is home to over 440 brands, and is the first two-story outlet of its kind in an airport. The 11,000 square foot space offers customers an exclusive experience on its Upper Level, where spirits can be sampled and cocktails enjoyed daily at the Long Bar by Raffles, free of charge.
DFS is now taking this customer experience even further by working with the local bar scene and collaborating with beverage industry leader Proof and Company, the team behind the award winning 28 HongKong Street, in presenting the DFS Cocktail Festival. The DFS Cocktail Festival kicks off a yearlong treat for travelers at the DFS Wines and Spirits Duplex in Changi Airport. Guests can expect a series of themed wines and spirits festivals at the Duplex to be held in collaboration with master distillers, brand ambassadors and bartenders.
Three signature cocktails that embody the true spirit, flavors, culture and language of Singapore will be available every day beginning May 20 on a complimentary basis for customers to enjoy at the Upper Level of the DFS Wines and Spirits Duplex.
Chop Chop Lah: A refreshing drink inspired by chicken rice made with: Absolut Vodka, ginger syrup, lemon juice, East Imperial soda, fresh cucumber and parsley.
Shiok Date: Zesty and vibrant, this features Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel, lemon juice, date syrup, Luxardo Maraschino, egg white, goji berries and takes its cue from cheng tng, a traditional herbal soup dessert.
Kiasu Kaya: The quintessential tropical holiday drink using the beloved Singaporean flavors of coconut and pandan, this is made with Ron Zacapa rum, Benedictine D.O.M., fresh pineapple juice, fresh orange juice and coconut pandan syrup.
In addition to the three signature cocktails, from May 20, 2016 to June 30, 2016, the festival will include a series of events over six weekends on both Friday and Saturday evenings, a host of mini master classes during the week and a flair bartender. The festival will offer a true taste of the Lion City’s eclectic bar scene with guest bartending sessions from 28 HongKong Street, Jigger & Pony, Manhattan, The Library and Smoke & Mirrors. A champagne cocktail party hosted by Veuve Cliquot for their new product Veuve Cliquot Rich will also be taking place on June 3 and 4, 2016.
“The cocktail festival is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the very best of our local talent and pay homage to Singapore’s unique culture. Travelers will be taken on a tantalizing journey through the diverse and rich flavors of Singapore,” said Wilcy Wong, DFS Group’s Managing Director, Singapore and Indonesia. “We are honored to be working with some of Asia’s top bars and together with Changi Airport Group, we look forward to welcoming travelers to enjoy the festival at our DFS Wines and Spirits Duplex at Terminal 3.”
On every weekend throughout the six weeks, one of the aforementioned bars will take on a guest shift at the Upper Level to present their interpretation of a Singapore inspired cocktail, exclusively designed for the festival. Each bar’s drink will only be exclusively available on their designated two days, and will remain a secret until the grand reveal.
“The Cocktail Festival is an innovative and fun way to celebrate the duplex’s anniversary. The unique cocktails not only tantalize our travelers’ taste buds, but also whet their palate to what the duplex has to offer in the days ahead. Furthermore, this Festival will give travelers the rare opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the world’s top bartenders at Changi!” said Ms Teo Chew Hoon, Changi Airport Group’s Senior Vice President for Airside Concessions.
