One of Singapore’s biggest fashion events, Samsung Fashion Steps Out (FSO) @Orchard will kick off its six-week long extravaganza on Friday, 25 March.
Though already in its seventh year, FSO still offers us plenty of reasons to reserve a spot in our calendar for the annual festival. Orchard Road this year will be teeming with head-turning designs from Fox Kids &Baby, local independent label Mashup, up-and-coming designer duo Sean&Sheila, and RÊVASSEUR for the edgy and quirky. UNIQLO, Raffles Privato and veteran designer Thomas Wee will showcase their stunning pieces on FSO runway for the first time. PHANTACi, a street-wear label by pop icon Jay Chou, will also be making its debut on 26 March.
Fashion maven and runway show producer Daniel Boey said, “I’ve always believed that style is personal…and that is what we are trying to create for Fashion Steps Out, a style parade. We’re showing different sorts of style juxtaposing lux and demi couture and street wear and everybody can walk away with a style that’s relevant to them.”
One of the most respected fashion authorities, Boey has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. Dior, Louis Vuitton and Fendi are just to mention a few. It’s a good thing for all of us that FSO has the longest catwalk. From Scotts Road to Bideford Road we will have plenty of time to marvel at Boey’s stunning fashion orchestra and to snap an instagram moment or two.
As if the hype isn’t already sky high, FSO will be throwing an outdoor after-party supercharged with a star-studded guest list. Mr. Mark Shaw, Chairman of Orchard Road Business Association, said, “For the first time, we will be joined by regional personalities in addition to celebrities and artistes from Asia and Singapore who will grace the highly anticipated Orchard Fashion Runway.” JJ.Lin, Aisyah Aziz, Hayley Woo, Iman Fandi, Indonesia’s influencer Daniel Mananta, Philippine’s celebrity blogger Laureen Uy, the list goes on and on.
Also joining the party is Samsung which will hold Samsung Fashion Visionaries at 313@somerset (22 April – 24 April) and Paragon, Main Atrium L1 (28 Apr – 8 May). Visitors will have a chance to experience different ways of capturing memories in 360◦ with the Samsung Gear 360 and relive those memories in vivid, immersive quality with Samsung VR. On top of that, visitors can revel in Adeline Loo’s fantasy knitscape, featuring a fully knitted giant backdrop, headpiece and train complete with giant needles.
