Gin Toneria at My Little Tapas Bar

My Little Tapas Bar is a small slice of Spanish heaven in the cosmopolitan hub of Club Street and is the ultimate spot for Gin Lovers and Tapas enthusiasts. Eliteror were invited to sample their delightful range of gin based cocktails and Spanish hors d’ouevres in celebration of their new Gin Toneria menu.

The team at My Little Tapas Bar have artfully crafted a range of gin tonics (in Spain they leave out the ‘&’) that are varied enough to suit any palate. The Gin Toneria menu encourages customers to get creative and pick their own brand of gin and up to three botanicals before handing over the reigns to the expert mixologist, who is also on hand to advise on the best blends. There are over 17 different brands of gin available, (starting at $18) and the option to upgrade to a premium gin ($6). The botanicals on offer include; ginger, cucumber, blueberries, basil and lemongrass among other options. Eliteror sampled the house lychee martinis which were as expected, light and fresh with a little kick. The mixologist’s personal recommendation was a blend of London No1, tonic, fresh strawberries and a dusting of cinnamon, served in a generously sized glass.

The tapas dishes on offer are reflect an exciting fusion of Spanish, Italian and Filipino cuisine. Most notable were the pork cheek and potato puree hor d’ouevres which were incredibly succulent and not overly fatty which was impressive. The Patatas Bravas, fried potatoes served with devil’s alioli, the Boquerones en Vinagre -Marinated white anchovies with gherkins and pickled onions  and their Cigarillos stuffed with valdeon blue cheese and Jamon were also of note. In addition, the Olive oil and almond cake was an ideal gluten free option for those with a sweet tooth. This cake is packed full of contrasting flavours, it’s quite amusing to watch the expression of someone’s face change as they sample it for the first time, sweet yet savoury, oily yet light, somehow it works and it is a delightful dish.

There is an eye catching display of Jamon Iberico artfully placed opposite the bar, that serves as a quirky, edible sculpture. The rest of the artisanal decor gives the bar an authentic feel, which can, at times be hard to find in Singapore.  The passion for quality is evident throughout the entire space, the staff are knowledgeable and personable, encouraging questions from the patrons and happily providing recommendations about the food or beverages on offer.

My Little Tapas Bar is the perfect spot for some after work drinks on a weekday evening or for a relaxed night out on a weekend. Located at 42 Club Street, it opens from 5pm-12am Monday- Sunday with an extended hours on Fridays until 2am, so that gin tonic lovers can get their fix until the early hours.
