Simone Jewels aims to share the tales from the Georgian period through her latest collection named Quintessentially British. Jewellery today serves not only to aesthetically please the wearer and its admirers, but it has also become an amazing conversational piece and an interesting tool in sharing history.
The theme came about from a recent trip through the UK by our creative director, Simone Ng. Completely captivated by the Georgian style, often distinguished by its air of opulence, grandness and fine quirkiness, there is no other that can compare as it spanned over 116 years making it the longest jewellery period in Britain.
The Georgian period was one of rapid, worldwide societal change where extraordinary individuals and events were transforming the entire globe. All of this, combined with great strides in science and world exploration, the advent of rail travel and a changing role for women in society paving the perfect setting for the creation of the magnificent jewellery we call Georgian. It also created the design backdrop for the Victorian, Edwardian and Elizabethan eras.
Now, two centuries on, Simone Jewels reinterprets the Georgian style into modern pieces of jewellery with a collection that incorporates an interesting mix of rococo, gothic and neoclassical influences. Each of the pieces tells a story about the Georgian lifestyle in particular the Georgian ladies. This includes the 5th Duchess of Devonshire, Georgina Spencer, who was the great-great-great-great grand aunt of the late Princess Diana.
Nowhere was the Georgian style more celebrated than in Britain making it truly Quintessentially British.
