SSO Classics in the Park @ Istana


This Labour Day, come join the SSO and Associate Conductor Joshua Tan in celebration of the 10thanniversary of the SPH Gift of Music series at the Istana! Programme highlights include the Polonaise from Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky, the Radetzky March by Johann Strauss Sr., and music from Grieg’s Peer Gynt.

Joshua Tan has won numerous awards and scholarships, including the Bruno Walter Memorial Foundation Award, NAC-Shell Scholarship, SSO/ MOE Scholarship and is the first-ever recipient of the Charles Schiff Conducting Prize from the Juilliard School. A graduate of The Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music, he received the Young Artist Award of Singapore in 2011. After a successful stint as Resident Conductor of Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts Orchestra from 2009 to 2012, Joshua was appointed Associate Conductor of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Director of the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra from the 2013 season.
