In celebration of The Straits Times’ 170th Anniversary, Associate Conductor Joshua Tan and the Singapore Symphony Orchestra bring you another exciting evening of ‘live’ music at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. Programme highlights include music from the Oscar-winning film Ben Hur and Portrait of the Beatles! Make it a day to remember with your family and friends, and don’t forget to bring your picnic mats!
Joshua Tan has won numerous awards and scholarships, including the Bruno Walter Memorial Foundation Award, NAC-Shell Scholarship, SSO/ MOE Scholarship and is the first-ever recipient of the Charles Schiff Conducting Prize from the Juilliard School. A graduate of The Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music, he received the Young Artist Award of Singapore in 2011. After a successful stint as Resident Conductor of Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts Orchestra from 2009 to 2012, Joshua was appointed Associate Conductor of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra and Assistant Director of the Guiyang Symphony Orchestra from the 2013 season.
