Southeast Asia is a shopaholic’s heaven with an abundance of high-end fashion side by side with markets and street stalls selling once-in-a-lifetime-bargains. While many will immediately think of Bangkok as the destination of choice for a weekend shopping getaway, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam is another city that is rapidly rising through the ranks. Vietnam has fast established itself as a shopping mecca for those seeking a bargain or two and as tourism has increased, so too has the establishment of trendy boutiques and wellknown markets up and down the country.

From secluded shopping streets to bustling bazaars, you can find more or less anything from tailored items to imitation brand name clothes and shoes that are available at a fraction of their usual cost. Shopping is an exciting entry into Vietnam’s cultural, social and culinary heart and there is no better place to experience this than amid the hive of activity that surrounds Vietnam’s second city, Ho Chi Minh City. Here the streets are an eclectic maze, flooded with tailors who can craft anything for you in as little as 24 hours. The shopping areas in the city are spread across District 1, 2 and 3 where you can expect to discover a mixture of both low and high end goods sharing the same street.

Fashionistas looking to experience the delights on offer in Ho Chi Minh City can take advantage of Vietjet’s great value daily return flights between Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City. The flight duration is under two hours with plans to add a second daily return flight in May 2015. The major areas to head to in the city are Dong Khol Street, which stretches from the Saigon River towards the Notre Dame Cathedral. Home to a majestic array of French colonial buildings, here you will find countless outlets selling anything from fashion labels, to jewellery, homeware and gifts.

A trip to the city is not complete without also visiting Le Thanh Ton and Ly Tu Trong, both downtown streets filled with luxury designer outlets, spas and hotels. Whilst in the city, be sure to also check out Ben Thanh Market, famous for its bustling atmosphere and stall vendors ready to haggle a bargain with you. For those seeking to enjoy their shopping sprees under the luxury of air conditioning, then Vincom Center is the best bet. Only a few years old, this mall has quickly become one of the biggest and most popular shopping malls in the city. A haven for brand lovers, Vincom is filled with well-known brands such as Louis Vuiton, Armani and Jimmy Choo. The mall is conveniently located on Le Thanh Ton Street, in the downtown area.

Vietjet currently operates 150 flights per day with a fleet of 23 Airbus aircraft across 31 routes domestically and internationally. The airline has daily flights from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City where travelers can easily connect to other cities within Vietnam and across the region via the airline’s extensive network of flights. Vietjet has also announced plans to increase the frequency of its Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City route from 30 May 2015.
